Andrew Royo worked at a record store called Peaches while attending the University of South Florida. Little did he know the future entailed him being the proud owner of Sounds Good Music Store.
His first job after graduation was far from music, at Pro Pools for about 10 years.
“I was tired of working outside,” Royo said,
So he decided to open Sounds Good Music in 2003, all by word of mouth.
“I started with about 600 vinyl, and 1,000 CDs” he said, “all my own collection.”
Sounds Good Music specializes in high-end new and used items, from record players to the needle used.
“When I say high end” Royo says, “I do not mean Sony.”
Royo has two employees that work for him, one for eight years and the other for five.
“Have you ever seen the movie “High Fidelity”?” Royo said, “Well it is just like that.”
Royo says that to have a good sound system a consumer does not have to spend crazy amounts to get the sound wanted.
“Your needle on your turntable” he says “makes all the difference.”
Raysa Rivero, record collector, is an avid customer.
“I always have a positive experience.” she says “The owner and staff are super nice and organized.”
Sounds Good employees provide a positive environment for music lovers, Rivero says. They make anyone feel at home, young or old.
“I always feel comfortable when I’m there,” Rivero says “I feel welcomed.”
Whether you are a long time collector or just getting into the game of music, Sounds Good Music is the place to go, she says.
“Talk to the employees, especially Andrew the owner,” Rivero says. “Their customer service honestly is part of the experience.”
