Jensen Beach welcomes back Mindlikewater
BY TINA POWELL
South Florida alternative indie-rock band Mindlikewater gave its farewell show in July 2011 shortly before lead singer Joseph Beaty moved to New York. In 2012, the band reunited at La Zen in Port St. Lucie for its only performance of the year.
This year, Mindlikewater will play a show on Feb. 23 at Oceanside Pub in Jensen Beach.
“I am happy to come back and play in Florida with Mindlikewater,” Beaty said. “We started in 1999, so naturally we are close friends. It seems we have better turnouts overall when we do one show a year instead of one every week.”
Fans can take pleasure in knowing that despite the distance, the band continues to progress.
“We are working on new music. I am sending files and working remotely” Beaty said.
Mindlikewater has played at festivals across the state and has opened for bands such as The Faint, Korn, and Muse. At Oceanside Pub, they will be joined by South Florida bands Break The Hero and Ghost Cat.
Local fans can look forward to hearing Break The Hero’s new singer, Misha Rousseau. The band commends Misha on their Facebook page, stating, “We have been putting this guy to the test and he has wound up surpassing our expectations in every possible way.”
