Cotton On is a fashionable Australian retail chain that is showing the Treasure Coast how Australians dress Down Under. According to the company’s website, the retailer currently has over 20 stores in Florida including a location in the Treasure Coast Square Mall in Jensen Beach.

Cotton On was founded in 1991 with its first store in Geelong, Australia. By the end of 2012, Cotton On had over 1,000 stores throughout the world and more than 90 stores in the United States.

Cotton On has a very distinct and urban style of fashion. Christina, 18, of Jensen Beach, has dressed preppy her whole life but has recently fallen in love with Cotton On.

“Growing up, I always wore Hollister, Aeropostale, American Eagle, pretty much whatever my friends were wearing,” Christina says. “But now that I’m older, my look has matured and I just don’t like that style anymore.”

Cotton On aims at bringing South Florida a different style than what it’s used to.

“Different is a good thing,” Christina says. She thinks that people her age are complacent with what they wear and are afraid to try something new.

“Cotton On does have some funky things that I wouldn’t dare to be caught in, but it also has a lot of stylish and cute things that I could never find at Hollister or American Eagle,” Christina says. “If I just walked past Cotton On like everyone else, I would’ve never have found half of the clothes in my closet right now.”
