This morning I got a chance to meet republican candidate for Governor, who is Florida’s current Commissioner of Agriculture, Adam Putnam. The Commissioner is currently on a bus tour to promote his campaign for Governor of Florida and he held his “Up and Adam” breakfast meet and greet at Wilke’s 14 Bones BBQ in Vero Beach, Florida. The meet and greet was well attended by Indian River County residents. Community leaders like Tax collector Carole Jean Jordan (R) was present. Also, there were a handful of Saint Lucie County residents at the event this morning including Indian River State College’s President Dr. Edwin Massey and Saint Lucie County REC Chairman Alan Winslow. Commissioner Putnam’s communication director informed us at the South Florida Sun that Commissioner Putnam goes to 5 cities a day to meet their goal of 22 cities for their 10 day bus tour. This past Wednesday, Commissioner Putnam announced his candidacy in his hometown of Bartow, Florida in front of 2,000 supporters. This morning commissioner Putnam talked about supporting the middle class, bringing more jobs, and urging community leaders to support community based businesses and institutions. Also, Commissioner Putnam talked about protecting citizens’ right to carry a firearm in which he to has a concealed weapons permit. He spoke passionately about supporting out local junior and state colleges. He believes in pushing vocational programs instead of the constant push for students to go college and get a degree in a major they are not guaranteed to get a job in after graduation, along with falling into debt. The event ended with residents taking pictures with Commissioner Putnam and signing their names on his bus. He stated that from there he was headed to Merritt Island.
